This workshop is to learn how to draw realistic colored images with the freedom of creative expression. Skills such as shading, blending, and layering will taught to execute different textures, reflections, values, forms, and figures.
Materials Required:
– a sketchbook (no smaller than a composition book, with blank pages)
– all other materials such as quality paper, erasers, and gloves will be provided.
By the end of this 4-month program, students will be able to draw their pet, favorite video game character, sports player, or whatever may lie in front of their eyes with the freedom to make it their own image. The composition of artwork during this program will draw inspiration from still life everyday objects, animals, and pop culture (artists, music, videogames, social media, memes). Students will have a showcasing for their final work at the end of the program.
About Instructor Jesse James
Hello, my name is Jesse James and I am a 22 year-old freelance artist. I am currently enrolled at UTRGV studying towards a BFA, concentrated in Studio Art.
I have been pursuing art for two years now working on commissions, working with business advertising, mural work, and personal works. My strongest form of media is the use of colored pencil. I enjoy the slow layering of colors to produce imagery that’s vibrant, contrasting, and full of depth. Colored pencil has not only taught me how to color better, but has affected my personal life improving discipline, time-management, and self-confidence, all while creating something that I can be proud of. I hope to inspire people of all ages to create art for themselves to share with others. What a wonderful thing it is to bring something from your imagination to reality.
